Role Overview: Experience with breathing valves apparatus and respiratory equipment is essential. The Design Engineer is a senior, hands-on role with the expectation of being able to follow the design process from concept to production, including testing. This will involve working to published regulatory standards as well as company issued briefs requiring a good standard of draughting and self-management.
Responsibilities:
- Creation of sound mechanical designs for safety critical, respiratory protective equipment (RPE) for both Industrial and Military customers.
- Technical support including documentation and testing for RPE.
- Customer/supplier liaison.
- Management of external testing/design resource.
Qualifications:
A good engineering qualification is essential. A relevant degree is desirable but not essential.
Key Skills and Competencies:
A solid and proven background in mechanical engineering and design; with experience in the following areas:
Essential:
- Breathing valves apparatus and respiratory equipment.
- CREO Parametric/Pro-Engineer Wildfire.
- Design and development of products from initial concept to production (NPI) using appropriate design/QA tools (DFMEA etc.)
- Exposure to a range of manufacturing techniques including injection moulding, rubber moulding, precision machining and fabrication.
- Manufactured product support.
- Rapid prototyping.
- Use and administration of Design Data Management (DDM) or other CAD data management systems.
- Fluent with Microsoft software; Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook, Project.
Desirable:
- Pneumatics.
- CREO surface modelling.
- Instrumentation
- Test jigs and fixtures.

- Technically pedantic.

- Confident, self-reliant and able to accept responsibility.
