Hours of Work: Monday-Thursday: 8:00am -5.00pm (with one-hour lunch break)

Role Overview: Responsible for projects and sales administration, as well as providing customer service support to Cam Lock Limited’s international customers, distributors and sales team, and the associated requirements of the Company’s ISO 9001 accreditation that function in line with the legislative requirements set under the UK and US export control regimes.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting the Sales Team in achieving the smooth running of the Sales Office and on-time delivery of all tasks.
- Taking an active role in the administration of project and contract planning activities, using appropriate techniques and project planning software.
- Proactive identification and involvement in sales and customer service improvement projects.
- Commercial viability assessment using the Project Gate review processes.
- Acting for and on behalf of the Group Business Manager (PRFC). Customs management and trade compliance across the whole Company. Ensuring that all global regulations are understood. Determining customs classifications and regulatory requirements (applying for export licenses, and certificates, etc). Ensuring the highest compliance levels for all customs and Government agency requirements across all staff and teams. Gathering, logging and monitoring all shipping data.
- Organising carriers for both UK and International Shipments.
- Assess and improve current project management procedures.
- Analyse and report on sales order trends. Assisting in producing sales reports including budgets, forecasts, revenue streams etc.
- Produce and improve the sales order and customer service reporting procedures in conjunction with the Sales Team.
- Produce action plans and suggestions on the back of all data analysis and assist in their implementation.
- Maintain a high level of customer service, collating and answering customer queries effectively.
- Act as liaison between production based in the UK and Cam Lock’s satellite offices worldwide.
Qualifications:

- Professional qualifications in shipping, logistics, or international trade are advantageous, such as:
- British International Freight Association (BIFA)
- Institute of Export & International Trade qualifications
- CILT (Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport)
- Project management qualification or experience (PRINCE2, APM, or similar) desirable.
- Dangerous Goods certification (IATA/ADR/IMDG) advantageous where applicable.
Essential Experience:
- Experience in international shipping, export administration, and customs compliance within a manufacturing, engineering, defence, aerospace, or technical sales environment.
- Proven experience managing UK and international freight movements including air, sea, and road shipments.
- Knowledge of UK export control legislation, HMRC customs procedures, and international trade compliance requirements.
- Experience preparing and reviewing export documentation including:
- Commercial invoices
- Packing lists
- Certificates of origin
- Dangerous goods documentation (where applicable)
- Export licences and customs declarations
- Experience working with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, and government agencies.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems and shipping or logistics software.
- Demonstrable experience supporting ISO 9001 quality systems and compliance procedures.
- Experience coordinating projects and sales administration within a fast-paced commercial environment.
- Experience analysing sales, shipping, and operational data to improve processes and reporting.

- Knowledge of post-Brexit customs procedures and international trade documentation.

- Strong organisational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent analytical and reporting skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with customers, distributors, carriers, customs authorities, and internal departments.
- Ability to interpret technical, commercial, and regulatory information accurately.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel for reporting and analysis.
- Problem-solving mindset with a continuous improvement approach.
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality in relation to controlled information and export-sensitive data.
Desirable:
- Experience in defence, aerospace, engineering, or regulated manufacturing sectors.
- Knowledge of dual-use goods regulations and military/end-user export controls.
- Experience managing international distributor networks and global customer accounts.
- Familiarity with customs software systems such as CDS, CHIEF, or freight portal systems.
- Understanding of lean process improvement or continuous improvement methodologies.
